On the other end, Wimberley is beautiful and highly livable, but it is not the bargain people assume. Census Reporter shows a population of about 2,891 there with a median age of 57.1, which tells you a lot about who it attracts.
If you want a coastal angle, the same rule applies. Port Isabel is still the more affordable play, with Zillow putting typical home value around $261,000, while Port Aransas was running closer to a $563,000 median sale price and carries extreme flood and wind risk on Redfin’s market page. So yes, there are still beautiful and affordable Texas towns, but you need to separate the Instagram towns from the towns that actually work financially.
